The Executive Director is responsible for the overall administration, leadership and direction of all aspects of the Stanton Housing Authority (Stanton HA) programs, management, contracts and staff.  Stanton HA is currently comprised of Twenty-nine conventional public housing units.  Job responsibilities include one part time employee and a full time maintenance person, fiscal control, community relations, and policy/procedure design and program development.  The Executive Director reports to the five-person Board of Commissioners for Stanton HA.   This is a part time hourly position of approximately 20-25 hours per week or as needed.


  • Must have the ability to envision, develop, and articulate a proactive course of action for the continued successful operation of Stanton HA that combines the board’s stated policies and objectives and an awareness of the dynamics within the housing industry
  • Must have extensive experience in planning, coordinating, controlling and managing the operations of a complex organization
  • Must be able to establish current and long-range organizational goals, objectives, plans and policies, consistent with the Board’s stated policies and objectives and ensure their execution
  • Must have thorough knowledge of HUD regulations and programs/or be willing and able to obtain a working knowledge of HUD regulations and programs
  • Must have a proven track record of fostering a positive work environment and motivating staff to the highest levels of excellence
  • Must have exceptional people skills, strong and effective oral and written communicative skills and the ability to maintain excellent relationships with residents, staff, local government officials, the general public, regulatory agencies and the Board of Commissioners
  • Must have the experience and the ability to execute “hands-on” with all aspects of Stanton HA 
  • Must have experience with modern office practices, including computers, internet, e-mail, QuickBooks, copiers and fax machines.  Must have a strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles

Education and training guidelines:

  • A High School diploma and two years of experience in office management and direct supervision of staff, accounting or educational equivalent will be considered.

  • HUD Reporting, Regulations and Program Requirements
  • All Financial reports including preparation for the annual audit
  • Federal and State Reporting Requirements for payroll, and other government agencies
  • Reports to the Board of Commissioners
  • Quarterly and special Board Meetings
  • Preparation of agendas consulting with Board Chairman
  • Oversees compiling of board information on a monthly basis
  • On- Call:  Monitors “On Call” and is available for emergencies

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in a standard office environment.  Work involves sitting and working at a computer performing administrative duties; involves walking, standing and driving
  • Attends workshops, seminars and meetings as approved by the Board of Commissioners
  • Position may require work beyond regularly scheduled hours to complete essential tasks.  Stanton HA provides essential services 24/7
